Questions, answered
Short answers that match how WhatASaaS works today.
The product
- What can I build?
- AI chat apps for a paying audience: a handbook assistant, a member or tenant help desk, a franchise SOP bot and similar. Start from a template or write your own brief. Mobile apps, ERP or Salesforce integrations and custom models are not offered.
- How does a brief become a live app?
- You describe who pays, the problem and the price. We turn it into a spec you approve, build the app with sign-in, checkout and tests, then run the launch checks. Once every check that applies passes, the app goes live.
- What are launch checks?
- Up to 17 automated checks, such as the spec being approved, sign-in working, checkout being present and secret keys staying out of the browser. If one fails, the app stays in preview and shows which check failed.
- Where does my app live?
- Every live app has its own address at whatasaas.com/apps-live/your-app. Factory can use your own domain.
- Where do my documents go?
- Document answers come only from the documents you load into that app, scoped to that app. They are not included in the source download, so load them into your own copy after you move it.
Plans, billing and ownership
- What's free?
- Signing up is free, and so is browsing the templates and their live demos. Writing a brief, building and going live need a paid plan, from $29/mo. The source download is free on every plan.
- What happens when an app reaches its query limit?
- Each app counts its document-answer queries from the start of your billing month. When an app reaches its plan's limit, new document questions get a quota message until the next billing month starts. The rest of the app keeps running. Need more? Move to a bigger plan.
- What happens if launch checks fail?
- The app stays in preview and we show which check failed. Fix the issue or rebuild, and it can go live once every check passes.
- Do I own the code?
- Yes. You own the generated source and can download the full app as a zip any time, free, with no approval needed.
- Can I cancel and keep my app?
- You keep the code. Cancel any time in the Polar customer portal from Settings, and your app stays hosted until the end of the paid month. Download the source before then and run it anywhere. After that, the hosted app shows as unavailable until you pick a plan again.
- Do you prorate or refund plan fees?
- Host and Studio renew monthly through Polar, our reseller and merchant of record. We don't prorate or refund fees except where the law requires it, and Polar may still issue a refund under its buyer terms.
- Can I check out Factory on Polar?
- Factory is $249/mo and starts with a short call so we can set up your domain and app limits. Use the Factory button to reach us.
